Sunday July 8th, Get Your Cookie On PDX!

I love Portland. It feels like a living, breathing John Hughes movie, but without the preppy characters. I’ll be there in a week or two, but unfortunately I’m going to miss the Cookie Contest at the Herbivore Store (read the newspaper blurb – and people say vegans are hostile!) But thanks to Julie Hasson, my maple walnut cookies will be fully represented!

But how will maple cookies go over in Portland? Will they be able to embrace their Vermont brothers and sisters? Will they suffer for their lack of hempseed? Julie and I are not above breaking a few kneecaps to make sure they come out on top, keep that in mind.

    I saw “Portland” and “Vermont” in the same entry, and I got wicked excited that you were making some sort of random summer cupcake pitstop in Maine. Ah, well. (:

    Just bought this book because my husband (not a veg YET) LOVES cupcakes, and it was our anniversary. I started simple and made the fluffy vanilla cupcakes with choc. chips and chocolate buttercream frosting. OMG!!!!! These were soooooo goood! I gave a bunch of them away, so I’m headed downstairs to make another batch to stay home this time! Thanks for your dedication…can’t wait to try more recipes!
    P.S. I use Vegan with a Vengeance all the time, too!

    John Hughes without the preppy characters? That would like John Waters without the gay camp. :) As a transplanted Canadian, I was never able to adapt to the maple. I don’t know why, but I nevertheless wish these cookies the best as they take on Portland.

    Everyone LOVED the maple cookies (of course, how could they not being Isa’s recipe). I think we can officially say that Portland loves maple. How’s that for scientific research.
