Deidre Jean always makes me feel really lazy. Look at all the work she put into making this flaming groom’s cake, complete with fire engine to put out the vegan fire.

Oh please oh please oh please oh please. . .can you share the vegan cake recipe? I could try to make vegan cupcakes and just pour the batter into a cake pan, but not sure if it’ll work; every vegan cake I’ve tried either is too dry or not as ‘tall’ as I’d like (I like birthday cakes to be really tall and sort of majestic, if that makes sense).

This cake is gorgeous and the flames are the best!

Hey FOM,
The recipe comes from Vegan with a Vengance (Isa & Terry’s first cookbook). If you don’t already own it, RUN to the bookstore to get one. And, I know what you’re saying about liking a tall cake. I quadrupled the recipe to get a cake this tall and majestic. It should feed about 50 peeps.

FOM, the recipe is also on the internet somewhere. Try to google it! You can also do an Amazon “search inside” and find the recipe.

LOL! I already have the book, honest! And, I’ve made the chocolate raspberry cake before (for my daughter’s 6th birthday) and it was very, very yummy, but it wasn’t ‘tall’—-knowing that you made it x4 definitely helps a lot. Thanks!
