Beating RayRay
by IsaChandra
I don’t mind losing to Nigella, it is an honor to even be in the running (plus I saw her make something vegan once.) But I have to say that it feels really really really really good to be a step above RayRay. I’m sure it won’t last and I’m sure I’m being really petty but our mission statement does say that we intend to bring the Food Network to its knees. Surely this is the beginning of it.

This is the Amazon list for overall cookbooks.
Edited to add: I jinxed myself and now we’re #9. It was good while it lasted!

ah nigella. i thought she was tolerable until I read her two page rant on preparing special foods for us veg*ns when we come to her holiday parties (where she would serve you cheese with cheese–see “Feast”).

Rachel Ray rubs me the wrong way. I’m sure she means well and all, but kudos to you. Well deserved!

I am SO GLAD you’re above her. I effing HATE RayRay. Seriously. I always flip off her magazine. She makes me want to stab myself. YOU CAN SAY THE WORDS EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL.

ugh, nigella lawson. how can anyone trust an anorexic cook? sorry to go off on a rant here when we really should only be celebrating, but you’re sandwiched, so to speak, between the two most annoying people on the food network, if its even possible to narrow it down. nigella drives me freakin’ insane; at least rachel “EVOO!!” ray looks like she actually eats the meals she prepares, and obviously wasn’t hired for her looks. isa and terry, you tower above them both. rock on.

Thanks! But I don’t think Nigella looks anorexic at all. I think she’s actually a bit big by TV standards. I think she looks great.

I was held captive at the car dealer today and forced to watch RayRay and muzak at the same time! I can’t stand watching her, BUT, she is getting people to cook with at least some real veggies. I saw her make kale and talk about how easy it is to make and full of nutrition. It’s a step. If you discover greens and actually eat them, you may find yourself craving vegan food. I can dream.

@Tori
I think you are thinking of Giada De Laurentiis

I think the book ranking is like the stock market – you’re not supposed to look at it too often. Top 10 is so great.

You’re always above Raytard in my book.

Nigella Lawson doesn’t look anorexic at all! Actually, I think she’s quite voluptuous! Sadly, she’s sooo un-vegan.

I have a bit of a girl-crush on Nigella, but RR must go down! I wish I could afford to buy more Veganomicons for that very purpose- gah!

I just remembered that the day I worked at the Food Network as the receptionist, I bookmarked links to VwaV and VCTOTW on the computer I was working on.
Nigella is one of the least anorexic people on food network. She is constantly talking about how she has to bring food with her everywhere she goes. Sometimes that food is a cream cheese and jam sandwich. Not vegan, but also, not anorexic.
Also, congrats Veganomicon! Being in the top whatever in ALL COOKBOOKS is fucking awesome.

Well, we all need to buy a second copy. Anything that puts one over on Rachel Ray (Gah, to share even a syllable of her name is to know the touch of hellfire) is worth doing.

Congrats Isa! I don’t have Veganomicon just yet. Still cooking loads from VWAV and VCToTW. But I shall get it soon…
And too bad Nigella’s food is not vegan friendly because I love watching her show and I don’t think she’s anorexic either! She’s “bosom-y and bottom-y” as she once referred to her voluptuous curves. She’s quite lovely. We need more curvy women like her on tv!

Ever notice how Rachel Ray is exactly like Joey Russo (Joey Lawrence) from Blossom? Where Joey likes to say “Woah!” RayRay says “evoO!” and “yum-O!” Coincidence? I think not.
Congrats on whoop’n her tuches!!

I saw RayRay on Iron Chef. I liked her much better than her sick-sweet persona on 30-Minute Meals.
I love that you are beating her. it makes me heart happy.

I heard RR say tempeh on 30 min meals once. I thought she didn’t believe in soy foods.
