VeganMoFO
by IsaChandra

For all of us who would rather raise our whisks and spatulas than write a novel, VeganMo(nth of)Fo(od)! For the month of November, we will write about food as much as we can. As if we weren’t doing that already. The rules are pretty loose, in fact, there are no rules. But we did come up with a bunch of ideas to inspire us on the PPK forums, and then yesterday they crashed. Fortunately, Katie wrote some out on her blog before black Thursday happened.
My first contribution is a Flickr group I set up so that all of our food porn, or whatever, can be in one place and we can add it to our RSS feeds if we so desire. So go join that.
Here is a partial list of participants, if you don’t see yourself here, let me know and I will add you.
It Was A Dark And Stormy Night
Kittee: Cake Maker To The Stars
What The Hell Does A Pink Haired Girl Eat?
The Place I Like Best In This World Is The kitchen
So What Do Vegetarians Eat Anyway?
Vegan Vanguard: Charging Ahead Of The Mainstream
Happy writing! Or, if you prefer, miserable writing! Just so long as you’re writing.
Edited to add: I’m getting a lot of email asking if you can join if you’re not vegan/joining late/not usually writing about food. The answer is yes! If you’re writing about vegan food or taking photos of vegan food or whatever you are doing, you can join. Especially the people who aren’t vegan but intend to try it out this month. Sorry if I’m not answering all the email personally, I’m trying but it’s just too much!

Hm, maybe instead of writing about food, I’ll make November my Vegan Month of Food by actually being vegan for a month (I’m vegetarian and semi-moving-toward vegan now). Minus the cheese I ate for lunch yesterday and today, prior to hearing about this MOFO thing. :-)
-
November 2, 2007 at 4:33 pm: IsaChandra
Alexis, with all this great vegan foodness happening, it seems like pretty good timing for it. Good luck and godspeed!

this is going to be like the woodstock of veganism. how many cookbooks will be conceived this month and what is a regular gestation period?
-
November 3, 2007 at 9:39 pm: wingraclaire
I normally don’t post about food, and this evening’s post shows you why. Usually we’re tired and make something simple, or a lot of simple somethings. We don’t like the convenience foods that exist for our dining pleasure. So I buy cookbooks and read the food blogs to find easy and fast meals that we will love. My family’s current favorite for both fast and easy is the peanut sauce with seitan and udon noodles in VWAV. Another awesome one, should you own Lorna Sass’ Short-Cut Vegetarian, is chickpea curry. Anyway, in the spirit of vegan mofo, I’m posting tonight’s dinner.

I finally got my asparagus into gear, and created a blog! It was the VeganMOFO that finally did the trick, and the ppkisdownsupportgroup that helped me name the beast.

I spent a whole year as an exchange student in Kyoto Japan, and I have to say I probably wouldnt have survived if it werent for a delicious bowl of udon a couple of times a week! There is even one shop where you can eat for free if you do 30 minutes of washing the dishes after! Anyway, I found a load more tasty looking ideas at this udon recipe site.

Chocolate Pumpkin Loaf
Fresh Corn Johnnycakes
Curry Tofu Tacos With Pintos & Kale Slaw
