Sweet And Sara S’mores

No restaurant review today, just a little reminder to tell you to skip dinner and eat a Sweet And Sara S’more instead. Holy cats, these things are forking insane. I was all getting ready to talk to someone on the phone today and I took a bite of the S’more, thinking I could just talk on the phone and wait to take another bite. No. I emailed him and said I needed half an hour.

It’s a buttery toasty tasting graham cracker, with a big scoop of luscious marshmallow, all dipped in dark chocolate. Everything about it is just perfect. The marshmallow is the just right amount of fluffy and toothsome, and the sweetness is not cloying, it’s just enough to let you know that you’re indulging. These things are running 4.49 at Whole Foods, and I gotta’ say, even though I kind of almost put it back because of the price tag, they are worth it. There’s also a peanut butter flavor, but fork that – I think original is where it’s at.

I know that Sara worked her ass off to get this recipe just right, and bless her soul, she did it. Mazel tov, girl! Check the Sweet And Sara website for how to get them. I got mine at the Whole Foods on Houston Street.

In other non-local news, AngelFood of Auckland New Zealand will be selling a marshmallow making kit for 10 dollars NZ (not sure what that translates to here, and too lazy to google it). It sounds like fun and I’ll review it on the blog in a few weeks.

    i KNOW! these things are frickin’ awesome. and seriously i kid you not, the peanut butter ones are EVEN BETTER. eat one. i wouldn’t lie.

    I couldn’t agree more with you about those things, except for your dismissal of the peanut butter flavor, which is awesome!

    These have been in my mind since you mentioned them yesterday! I was at the Union Square Whole Foods this evening, and gave up on finding them because it was such a madhouse in there. I will try them one day, dammit!

    and next time mention that these are really good if you freeze them cuz you can eat them straight out of the freezer and it’s better than an ice cream sammich.

    i would just like to note to mikey and all other whole foods sweet and sara seekers – they keep the s’mores (and the marshmallows themselves) in the prepared food section alongside the desserts-to-go.

    i still haven’t tried the smores because the coconut marshmallows win out.

    no way dude peanut butter ones are waaaaaaaay better… sadly it’s only like a little drop of peanut butter… in my s’mores at least when i could have the regular ones i preferred everything in equal porportion so i warmed these up ate some of the marshmelly flipped it over and got a forkful of graham cracker peanut butter marshmelly and chocolate… MMMMM HEAVEN… it’s so rich though! but it’s like straight reese’s type peanut butter… at least i think it is it’s been a while since i’ve had reeses… i tried the peanut butter and the plain side by side… the plain sat in the freezer while me and my friends vegan and non devoured the peanut-butter ones… SO YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM AND YOU WILL BE SINGING A WHOLE DIFF TUNE! ps the marshmellow expands like 1000 times when you microwave it… it’s quite a cool thing to watch…

    You know they’re not bad…but honestly, a little too moist for my liking. I think the graham cracker should be a bit harder, and the marshmallow has too much of a “fluff” texture and not enough of a shmallow texture. I used to do homemade ones with the vegansweets marshmallows (before they stopped production) and some natural valley oat grahams, and while not perfect they were a better s’more solution, IMO.

    These things rock my world. I never thought of freezing them before–I should try it. I love the gooshy marshmallowy texture, though.

    Tuccelli makes a great gourmet marshmallow. I think this would be a product that they should put into their line of confections. If you like chocolate covered mallows. Give Tuccelli a try.
