Who would have thought that when I put up a silly little website with a handful of recipes that it would change my life forever? I mean, I’ve had some dumb ideas in the past (Fat Girl Disco-Robics, anyone?) and I thought this would just be another one. But here we are almost a decade later, baking our two-millionth and one vegan cupcake.
So first and foremost I want to thank all of you that have come along for the ride. From my livejournal friends of 2002 to all the awesome media attention, to my mom…thank you all for your support. I am ridiculously grateful for all the love we receive and not a day goes by where I don’t take some time to give thanks in somehow — I’m just very Oprah in that way. I hope that this new improved site is helpful and fun for everyone. I know it is a lifesaver for me, no more spending hours and hours deleting Russian porn spam! A big round of applause to the fabulous What Cheer for creating such a beautiful site! They took my love of vintage, scribbled in, loved to pieces cookbooks and they ran with it. Thank you, John Henry and Alex!
OK so here’s a rundown of some of the new stuff.
Many of you are probably wondering where your favorite recipes went! Well, I am adding recipes from the old database into this one slowly but surely. Do a search for the recipe and if it doesn’t come up let me know and I will do my best to add it back.
And even more importantly, the heart and soul of the PPK…message boards! I know how slow and cumbersome (and maybe just a little too bright) the old boards were. The new ones are running with faster software that is much easier to organize for the hard working moderators. Thing is, we had to get rid of the old ones completely because of the new software, so you’ll have to rejoin. Here’s to new beginnings!
We’ve also got stuff for sale to pay the bills: T-shirts, books and aprons. We’re totally ad-free!
Other than that, just have a look around. Everything is pretty self-explanatory. I’m especially excited to be able to update things so easily, so expect seasonal new recipes at lightening speed (or at least weekly) plus all the hottest gossip on bake sales, benefit dinners and the most controversial and scandalous new vegan options in your area.
Again, thanks for all the support over the years. Vegan cooking has gained so much ground in the past decade, here’s to another decade of moving forward, never backward! The tofu marches on!
