Soup beans! Man, I love soup beans. Sometime I need to check out my grandma's recipe for her homemade rolls. We were big on soup beans and homemade rolls instead of cornbread. Still wouldn't turn down a piece of corn bread split open with soup beans dumped on top. I wish I had a good recipe, but I've never even tried it. I think maybe just onions, salt, and a little liquid smoke?
Yep, I just cook pinto beans in the crockpot with water, onions, salt, and add a little liquid smoke at the end. They're better if you wait to eat them on the second day (they thicken up a little that way). If we're going to eat them the same day I made them, I like to use an immersion blender on them for just a bit make them a bit thicker.
