I bought some for reasons I can't remember. It's now sitting in my cupboard making sad pathetic 'use me' kinda sounds every time I open the door. I kind of assume it's similar to treacle/molasses, but I've not even opened it up yet so I just don't know. What is it good at? What should I use it in?

Make bagels! I know that recipes usually call for barley malt in the water bath that you boil bagels in before baking them. I guess it gives their crust that bagel-y texture.
Vegan Brunch Chelsea Waffles! that's what I bought mine for; it gives a really great taste to the waffles and the malt keeps in the fridge for a long time I'd imagine, for random waffle days.

I think it is in the recipe for Peanut Buttercream in VCTOTW. It is also great simply put into malt shakes! I can't remember how much I've used in the past but I imagine a tablespoon or two per shake.
