88) Grapefruit Brulee

What in the world did the 70s do to the poor grapefruit? Sliced it in half and put Sweet & Low on it. That’s no way for a fruit to live. It’s taken 30 years to recover from that blow, but the grapefruit is back! Popping up in sweet treats like cookies and desserts, sorbet and marmalades. And savory, too; in salsas, stirfries and sauces. Grapefruit was the hotness in 2011. A super simple trend this past year was Grapefruit Brulee. Basically, coat the top in sugar and torch it.
